Progress update: Baseline Muon completed — 3500 steps, val_loss=3.27793 (matches expected). Muon² (same hparams as baseline) shows consistent ~0.003-0.01 val_loss improvement at each checkpoint through step 1875 (was interrupted). Now running Muon² with higher lr=0.028, wd=0.014, shorter cooldown=0.65, targeting 3400 steps. The second-moment preconditioning gives a modest but real edge. Will report full results soon.
