Seems they are restricting any commercial use with the new license they added 6 hours before release. As of right now, it doesn't look usable.
Thank you minimax team for release of open weights for this awesome model. I eat my past words, this model is going to kill in the enterprice scenarios. Trust is restored for local testing and minimax models via API are going to get more love and usage.
Releasing open weights is a culture that promotes scientific collaboration and advancement of AI industry. If Minimax team backtracks from that goal, most of the fans Minimax Team gathered so far will go to AllenAI, GLM and Qwen Teams, who carry the orginal Mission that OpenAI had, that is to advance AI field, prevent monopoly and democraticize AI technology.
Don't deviate from the core mission of democratizing AI technology and advancing it. Already your inference economics via API is excellent, so you will ge more users following open source path rather than deviating from it. Investors and users will be still happy.
