Was it simple name change or is something fundamentally different
Compared to the earlier Opus-distilled version, v3 is more of a refined and rebalanced iteration. The training data, sampling strategy, and overall alignment were adjusted to improve stability and general reasoning quality, rather than just pushing for aggressive reasoning depth.
In practice, v3 tends to be more consistent, less prone to overthinking, and better balanced across tasks, while still keeping strong reasoning ability.
So it’s more of an evolution than a rename~
