| Walkthrough for "TOOKiE'S SONG" Release 1 (Official Comp02 Release) | |
| Game and walkthrough (c) 2002 by the author, Jessica Knoch. | |
| This is the step-by-step solution to earn all the points and have the most | |
| fun, although much has been left out. I do encourage exploration on your | |
| own! Features additional "amusing" things to do, commentary about | |
| alternative solutions, and the official stamp of approval from the author. | |
| Before using this walkthrough file, I encourage you to try the hint system | |
| built into the game by typing HINT. These gradual nudges toward the | |
| solution might just spark the solution in your own mind, and they will | |
| eventually give away everything if you need it, so use them first! | |
| If you see any room for improvement in the walkthrough, or would like to | |
| pass along any comments on it, please send an e-mail to me at | |
| jessicaknoch@mindspring.com. I'd be much obliged. | |

| Amusing Things To Do | |
| Okay, so they're not that amusing. But here are some things that might | |
| give you something to do until the commercial break is over. I have | |
| given my own little "fun factor" ratings to each of the suggestions, | |
| so that those of you with fewer commercials to go can skip right to | |
| the good ones. Note that some of these will cause the death of the PC. | |
| [1 to 5, 1 being a don't-miss, 5 being merely unusual] | |
| Have you tried... | |
| * magic words like xyzzy, plugh, and plover? [1] | |
| * asking Gus about 'the aliens'? [2] | |
| * telling Gus to make you a particular drink? [3] | |
| * climbing through the passageway in the Central Well? [4] | |
| * solving the math problem on your own, without the game props? [3] | |
| * touching the four doors? [4] | |
| * touching the four keys individually? [2] | |
| * dropping the dropping key? [3] | |
| * eating the earthworm? [1] | |
| * entering the chasm? [1] | |
| * EXAMINE FOREST in the Forest Glen? [1] | |
| * asking Leon about yourself? [3] | |
| * examining the pencil? [4] | |
| * biting things? biting the pencil? [4] | |
| * rolling things beside the bowling ball? [4] | |
| * just typing ROLL? [2] | |
| * smelling the soup? [3] | |
| * bridging the chasm with the ladder? [3] | |
| * examining yourself? [4] | |
| * putting the bleach tablet in a drink you got from Gus? [5] | |
| * taking the ladder while you're on it? [5] | |
| * asking all the NPCs about each other? [4] | |
| * showing Eddie the paper when it doesn't have the answer on it? [5] | |
| * dropping things on your toe? [2] | |
| * dropping the bowling ball on your toe? [1] | |
| * following things in the game? [4] | |
| * typing the command SPRAY? [3] | |
| * reading the alliterative Fullscore descriptions? [2] | |
| Other Amusing Points: | |
| In TOOKiE'S SONG, the default responses to many different actions | |
| have been changed; in fact, for several there is a sequence of responses. | |
| To see all the responses, the maximum number of times to try any single | |
| action is 4. For those with the time and inclination, a full list of | |
| the actions with extended responses follows: | |
| ATTACK (or HIT), DIG, JUMP, PRAY, SING, SLEEP, SORRY, <your favorite | |
| strong language here>, THINK, THROW <something> AT <something>, WAIT, | |
| and last but certainly not least, WAVE. | |
| Things You May Not Have Noticed: | |
| TOOKiE'S SONG does not support Superbrief mode, and its default | |
| mode is Verbose. You can use lots of verbs for getting off of things | |
| like the ladder, like "get off," "get down," "descend," or even "exit." | |
| The doors will, for the most part, assume much of the work of going | |
| through them on your behalf. Once you know what key unlocks what door, | |
| just typing the direction you want to go in is enough to unlock the door, | |
| open it, and then walk through. If you don't know which key unlocks a | |
| particular door, the game will choose one at random for you to try. | |
| Similarly, the ladder will assume that when you type "climb ladder," you | |
| want to set it down and then open it. There are three different "winning" | |
| endings. And, the final Nice Thing that You May Not Have Noticed: | |
| TOOKiE'S SONG has no unwinnable state. (That means, if you are not dead | |
| and haven't won yet, there is still a way to win the game.) | |
